It Just Popped Into My Head

Poets are born from anger, he told me

as he explained his engineering processes

and how they influenced his love of art.

I corrected him, saying that it was sadness

that drove the heart of most writers:

the desire to connect through words

we were often too shy or scarred to speak aloud.

It was then he explained that he had

difficulty in emoting, poor dear.

I assured him that to be a successful scientist or engineer,

as well as artist or poet, a soul only needs one thing:

the ability to vividly dream.
