Avenge

I unearthed her slowly one layer at a time,
exposing her dormant emotions,
one sense at a time

Like a skilled craftsman,
I abraded the masks she wore,
made her stand naked,
with her soul exposed

A sense of victory
crossed my evil eyes,
a dancing smirk graced my lips
spilling venom laced briers

My time of avenge had finally come
I desired to abandon her
and mock her like she once performed

But then I committed a mistake
that I should have never done
I looked at her eyes
and I all my hatred was gone

For this time those eyes had
bellowing love for me,
the eyes showed my reflection,
which I couldn’t reckon

And I surrendered my life
in the capture of her eyes,
for those doe-shaped eyes
now would never lie

  1. Well, eyes are one’s window to the soul and once it captures you, it takes you whole.I loved the way you have started the poem and the twist you have given in the end.

  2. You are welcome. One of the joys of the internet is connecting with people and their art and creativity. I am grateful for connecting with your creative voice.
