I will not let you sleep

And for Humor…

When it comes to services industry nothing can beat south-east Asia. People there take services delivery experience to a complete different level. As grandeur as t may sound sometimes it becomes a cause of annoyance.

You don’t agree? 😊 Let me narrate an incidence to prove my point.😊

When I travel to India I always enter India through Delhi. This is regardless of my final destination.

During one such trip, I followed my usual routine. I landed in Delhi at around 10:00 PM. By the time I reached my brother’s home, it was almost midnight. We had a lot to catch up and before I realized it was time for me to go back to the airport, for I had an early morning flight to Chennai.

Though I sleep badly on plane, this time I forced myself to get some rest, for I was going to the office directly from the airport. Tiredness coupled with the looming day in front succeeded in putting me into a deep slumber.

An hour into the flight I felt a gentle nudge but it didn’t succeed to break my repose. The gentle nudge was followed by a deviant push. I woke up in shock only to find a smiling petite air hostess questioning, “what would you like to have sir. Veg or nonveg?”

though I was frustrated I avoided to give any curt response. Instead I forced a smile and politely mentioned I would prefer to sleep.

I struggled for some time but somehow got back into sleep mode again. I was woken again. This time by a flight attendant quizzing me why I am not eating. I smiled and said, “like the seat belt indicator, you should also have a do not disturb button.”

He failed to get my sarcasm and responded back stating he will get me a suggestion form. πŸ˜‚

In the US, if you are asleep on a plane, no one will wake you. In India I felt my mother was traveling with me, concerned about my lost appetite.πŸ€—πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Regardless of my not so pleasant experience, no one can beat the South Asian travel industry service quotient. I would still happily give them 10/10.

  1. Yes they are little too caring in their own way.and the reason they kept you waking up cause they don’t want a sick person on their flight..they assume that everybody should eat cause it’s a long flight and if not then there is done problem.one of my friend working with the airline once told me.

  2. Now, I’m tempted to share a similar experience. I was enroute to Japan on a All Nippon Airlines flight. A very kind looking (some people just have that she/he must be a kind person kinda face, you know what I mean?) stewardess came to collect trash and remarked “why didn’t you eat your veggies?’ I felt like saying “what now I won’t get ice cream?” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
