Braving Battles

My blithe soul has tall guards,
made up of steel and grit
the walls may be transparent
showing the softer me
and I might welcome everyone
without any prejudice or stated decree
yet no one can invade
and exploit my peace,
for no sorrow has the grit
stronger than me
and sadness always fail to display
any pretentious charade
to deceive me
and every time they try dragging me
to some abstruse oblivion
they fail with absolute misery

And when such occasions present
and brush past me
I hold them as moments of pride,
wearing them as my battle scars
for I have nothing ever to hide

  1. Battle tested, guarded, lesson learned and lessons earned. Sometimes when the war is over, thatโ€™s when the real battle starts and building that wall can be the hardest. Wonderful symbolism of being and staying strong. Positive message and powerful.
