What If?

What if I avow my love
breaking the shields,
detesting the apprehensions,
liberating from presumed bondages
to dissolve in your hazy occult

What if I become a rebel
stripping away the inhibitions
detesting the social charade
abutting the dogmatic stares
to announce my blistering desires

What if I break the mold
escaping the impeding barriers
fracturing the virtuous cage
smacking the ostensible bonds
to be with you

And if I defy the world
and leave the sanity behind
will you show courage
to walk with me
away from the desultory world

  1. Thank you Soundarya for your comment. The word I believe are important in the line, I emphasis. Nothing significant just the weirdness of an aberrant mind ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒธ

  2. I am walking with your words Shantanu.โค๏ธ We need bravery to listen to the calls of our heart. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Precise post on breaking the barriers and attaining freedom.I feel this as an allegory on persisting social stigmas and injustice.I am privileged to read it sir๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Beautiful. What if I bare my heart open for you see and see those scars I’m hiding within.

These ending lines are my favorite. A lover’s desire.

“And if I defy the world
    and leave the sanity behind
    will you show courage
    to walk with me
away from the desultory world”. This is a beautiful piece of poetry.

  5. This is so powerfully intrusive as it is a declaration. It is absolutely brilliantly penned. A breathtaking awakening from a cocoon. He toils with the idea of her heart taking courage being true. While his heart desires to embrace his love by shaking and breaking down barriers which separate.
What If… a tiny word that causes wonder, whether acceptance will be granted.
Stepping from behind the shadows, how will others respond. Can they stand together, being true to their heart. The last stanza captures the beautiful essence of his love. His willingness to sacrifice to encourage her heart.
    Wow…this is a brilliant, just Lovely ๐Ÿ˜Š
