To Be a Child Again

We judge too often and hate too much
We lie too often and smile too little
We cry in private and hide our emotions
We don’t think twice before sabotaging someone’s reputation
We are mean and selfish
We only think for ourselves
We believe in showing off
We live an ostensible life
We are grownups
trying to survive in a deviant world

We laugh in abundance and cry when we are hurt
We are friends to all and have a loving heart
We are draped in innocence
We are not labeled as civilized
We call spade a spade
We forget animosity in a trice
We are God’s angel
We are children

And now as grownups,
trying to live a dubious life,
we wish we can be children again
Such is the irony of life

  1. “Such is the irony of life” and so it is. I love the deep message. I read this to my mother and she likes it too. Another splendid one *applause*

  2. We advice our children to do the opposite of what we do! Thanks for your wise words! 🙂 The dance of human life goes on in circles of confusion and delight. 🙂

  3. In short, we’re a right mixed up lot aren’t we! I luve like a child now. I ,earned that. And I hardly dare say this, but I am OLD lol

  4. ‘And now as grownups,
trying to live a dubious life,
we wish we can be children again
Such is the irony of life’

    These lines ❤

  5. It is sad we forget the fearlessness of youth. We forget, once life was hope and gain. Not struggle and hard work. A powerful and wonderful write.

  6. Childhood is really a golden period of life but we realise this fact when it has already gone🙇‍♀️

  7. A slice of life! I do not wish to be a child again, though. I’ve had many lessons to learn how to improve my life over the years. 😃

  8. This is so beautiful but I am feeling a little melancholy. To be a child again and not worry about responsibilities, and to play all day. Some days I wish for that more than ever.
