Have you noticed the burning wood
reducing to some blackened char
life vapored into thin air
with the signature of nothingness
all over it

Have you observed the empty nests
broken abode
scattered feathers
reminiscent of some past chirping
dissolved in a distant yore

You call it the end of a beautiful dream, write off with a heave
but you are wrong
for the char subsumed some burning coal
hidden in the disguise of an ebony night
and it resurrects
with a golden spark
and sure you are surprised now
and the deserted nests
are now the dwelling
of a bird called hope
