Drifting Away

I told her
I will never expose my heart out
to show how it bleeds her name
or give her a peak to my tear glands
beneath the eyes
showing how it is brimming with tears
though eyes won’t reveal

I promised her
never to show the artistry reflection
of her in the celestial bodies
and the verses I weaved
meant for her

And I convinced my heart
to drift away
to leave her at peace
for not to show her
the midden barren boulder
with convoluted thoughts that I keep

I then rushed down
the slalom
never to return again
killing feelings,
suffocating hope
and ditching all imagery I ever dreamt

I did all this and some more
and arrested every such thought
in some written words
but then I promised
again no to show her my prose
