I Will Draw Some More

Yesterday was a hectic day. I landed from LA in the wee hours of the morning, hardly got any sleep before I had to leave for a client meeting early morning.

The day was long. And when I reached home I was glad the week was over. I curled up in the bed thinking of writing some verse when my daughter showed up. She was excited to show me a surprise packet of doll accessories she got from her mom. Once done showing me the new treasures she brought four of her paintings to me and asked me to rank them in the order of my favorites.

As we played the little game, I asked her with a tease, “Nitara, what if someone tear off all your paintings?”

My goading was intentional and I looked at her with mischief, waiting for her to give me a weird reaction. Instead, she pleasantly surprised me with her answer.

She looked at me, smiled and stated in her usual jubilant voice, “then I will draw some new one.”

And at that moment I learned a life lesson from her. No matter what the circumstance is, you can never go wrong with positivity in your thoughts. The castles may be demolished but you can build them again.

I thanked her for her charming attitude and found some other means to trouble her with my devilry.

  1. I already adore this little girl, and her positivity!! It was really very sweet of her to say so.
I am not much of a fan of kids but recently I have also realised that how much kids are more positive and charming than us. They don’t have nay kind of intentions behind anything, they are full of love and honesty and I can safely say I love this thing in them.

  2. I don’t know! I mean yeah they are cute and all but sometimes I just can’t handle them. Specifically I get scared of them when I am left alone with them. I mean what the hell am I supposed to do? entertain them? calm them? feed them? HOW? And the biggest task is they need to talk like every second. how do you keep them occupied! Things like that.. (Please don’t judge me)

  3. Thanks Ana. Yesterday was crazy busy again. My son had debate competition so I had to drive over 100 miles one way to reach there by 8:30 and came home late in the evening. Then we were invited to a friend’s housewarming. So yeah it was some fun 😊how are you doing. Did you try the ECG on your watch?

  4. Wow! Debate?! So happy for him, most people fear speaking in public much less debate. Oh so glad you made it though! I’m sure you made his day.
I know, this time of year will get us a bit busy. I’m doing good.
I’ve seen the app, its on there, so glad it’s there! Such a great addition.

  5. Yeah he has been debating for 3 years now. He does state level debating. Yesterday his team won 3 out of 4 debates. So it was worth the travel. That app is pretty cool. 😊

  6. Lol! We’ll have to wait and see. I worked with lawyers for many many years, before I decided to be a stay at home mom, I miss the legal field, and I must say, lawyers are great debaters! 😂 I guess they have to be!

  7. A beautiful soul and painter she is! This is a sweet story… thank you for sharing! 😊🤗
