Rigmarole

Every occasion
when she disappears
without much rhyme or reason
or any fight or turmoil
he affirms,
to surround his vulnerable emotions
with an impenetrable rind,
but when she decides to appear
after her untimely disappearance,
he,
against his sane mind’s desires
makes a tiny rupture
on his shield
only to find him
lost in her rigmarole
and falling into the trap
of some obnoxious love
