The fragrance blinded his senses
and the scent of wild lavender
blended with the perfume
she used to wear
he had not seen her for countless years
the memories had almost dwindled
the pain had also resigned
but that slight whiff of her essence
rattled the hornet’s nest
and rekindled the fading evanescence
