Louisville To Raleigh

I had an important meeting in Louisville Kentucky today. My flight from Newark was delayed yesterday and I reached Louisville way past midnight. Despite all the travels I still find hard to sleep in a hotel bed. And my struggle to sleep continued this time as well.

My day started early and meetings went well. Louisville was preparing for the Derby season and the city was warming up for the event.

My flight was not until 6:30 PM. This time I was flying to Raleigh, NC. There was no direct flight and I was flying via Newark. The irony of reaching home airport yet not able to go home 😬

The famous Kentucky fried chicken (KFC) started in Louisville. I had left eating at fast food joint a while ago, but the thought that fried chicken originated from this place tempted me to stop by at a KFC. I stood in the line for a while and when my turn came, I couldn’t find the courage to break my 5-year streak of avoiding fast food joint. I went to a tavern instead and enjoyed a grilled burger.

The boarding was announced and as I waited to be seated the famous air traffic congestion delayed the flight. My connection time between the two flights was only 35 minutes. With every passing minute, my chance to make the connecting flight was turning bleak. Flying 200K miles gives you a status with the airlines and comes handy in a situation like this. I called the airline premier desk and I was rerouted to Raleigh via Chicago. This time I was landing in Raleigh post midnight. Knowing the importance of my meeting, I switched to the new itinerary. Incidentally, the flight to Newark left. I wasn’t sure whether I should have stuck to my previous flight option. Knowing it was a losing battle, I gave such thoughts a passing glare.

The incoming flight came in and we patiently waited for the passengers to deplane. And when it was time for us to board, the gate agent announced there would be a delay. Apparently, the pilot found a scratch on the wing and it required the maintenance staff to do a thorough inspection. This time the connecting window was 50 minutes. I was hoping I had enough time, but I was wrong. Sure, the flight was delayed to a point that there was no way I could have made the connecting flight. There weren’t any other flight leaving Louisville in the night.

So, guess what I did. I called for an Uber ride from Louisville to Raleigh. A 600 miles 8-hour journey crossing three states, marking a dozen highways.

I am writing this from the ride. I arrive at 6 in the morning and my day starts at 7:30. Hopefully, it will be a fun ride

Her Regrets and His Blessings

She regretted their time was short lived,
he treasured every moment spent with her.

She repented for everything she didn’t say,
he cherished the memories when he spoke the world to her.

She is now cramped in her shell,
sad and bereaved,
he wore her thoughts in his smile,
and he soared Lost in her beguile

Blithe

She always remained in blithe,
nonchalant and insouciant,
pristine and kind,
and worry was the last thing on our mind.

She had many dreams,
few attainable,
and many over the top,
and in the course of making them real,
some broke and few shattered,
but that didn’t impede her to dream more,
the bygones never troubled her,
and she surged ahead to open new doors

The guffaws,
the laughter,
the glitter in her eyes,
never shattered,
and she dreamed some more,
went ahead defining new charters

And occasionally when her dreams come true,
she never rested,
nor did she halt,
to claim her pride,
for she found new reasons to keep her soul smiling and alive,
living in trance was her way to challenge herself,
and she didn’t merely survive but thrived.

His Midas Touch

He found her scattered around,
her heart broken to pieces
so was her soul,
and she had rough edges,
each protruding out,
screaming and telling an unforgiving story.

She was closed,
her thoughts stashed away
in some dark corner,
maybe a closed box,
hard to trace.

And her eyes bellowing red,
hard to tell,
if the crimson sparks
were because of her prolonged crying,
or from the rage she bore in her remnants.

But he didn’t give up on her,
he gathered her piece by piece,
and like a skilled craftsman,
chiseled her,
shaped her,
gave her time to heal.

And then magic happened,
her soul bloomed,
her heart smiled,
she was a new her,
a refreshed soul beaming with elation.

He gently held her hand
and glided her softly to the mirror,
and the image startled her,
and she cried,
her eyes were crimson red,
but this time for love.

But how strange was that,
for in the process of finding her
he discovered his own redound self
smiling with joy.

Why Should I Dream?

All my dreams,
my plans,
the long brooding at times
have disappeared and vanished,
since the time you’re around,
and the heart has woken up
from long repose,
and that whisper,
like a gentle ruffle,
is drawing me into you,
and I,
soaked in your loved,
drenched in your thoughts,
is a new me,
which I am enable to reckon,
sure I am confused,
but I am exultant,
and have enough senses to announce,
why do I need to dream when you are around?

Those Giggles

Those unstoppable giggles
maybe annoying for some,
but for me
it is the sound of bonding,
the clamor of togetherness.

And through the clinks,
and loud cacophony clanks,
it weaves few stories,
and treasure some memories,
which will make us nostalgic,
and give uncalled smiles,
in the years to come.

Unstoppable

Like some morning breeze in a spring morning,
gentle and calm, pristine and serene,
unruffled from the darkness it was confronting some moments back,
she rouse joyous,
shaving off the shades of the past,
she reclaimed her happiness,
grabbing it with both hands,
and clasping it with her soul,
with a pure feeling,
she was in love for sure,
with everything around,
with the blissful dawn,
the charming blooms,
the busy bees,
and the mighty trees,
she rekindling her memories and surged ahead,
it was a new day, a new beginning,
and she danced and kissed
like that early morning blithe

Live In the Moment

You feel miserable
thinking she is about to leave,

Her thoughts,
her talks,
everything that concerns her,
making you bereave

You are lost in such moments of despair,
your mind a mud puddle,
confused and stirred

And the day arrives
when she finally departs,
you see her floating way
like dwindling image of dawn stars

You realize you have so much left to say,
you reach out but it is a futile attempt,
all in dismay,
she is long gone, disappeared like a blur
and you repent in such moment of spur

If you would have chosen
not to brood alone,
at least her memories
would have been with you
to call your own

Never live in the fear of the future my friend,
cherish every moment
rejoice your occasion
is all I will recommend

Wear Your Moment Badge

Every moment that
sweeps you off your feet

And the moments that
helps you attain your lost feat

Coax them,
cajole them,
wear them like a badge,
so, in the moment of despair,
it can remind you of your past small wins

This is the only way
I have learned,
to brave and face
all my past, present and future defeats

Beyond Love

Every occasion when his blithe
soothes her despair eyes,

Or his smile cajoles her
before she is about to break down and cry,

the feelings,
the emotions,
the relief from the commotions,
all morphing and glittering,
shining and shimmering,
sparking and lighting up her gray laden skies

And she remains in complete awe,
thinking, how can just his simple presence bring such unprecedented joy
giving her reasons to rejoice
